First Aid Kit

First Aid Kit

It’s important to have a first aid kit in your rabbitry and replenish it as items are used.  The time to prepare this kit is before it’s needed so you have it ready and handy when the need arises.  Below is a list of items suggested for your kit.

  • Alcohol
  • Alcohol Wipes
  • Antibiotic Ointment
  • Antiseptic Wash
  • Baby Oil
  • Baby Shampoo
  • Cotton Squares
  • Cotton Swabs
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Iodine Tincture
  • Latex Gloves
  • Opthalmic Ointment
  • Peroxide
  • Sterile Gauze
  • VetRx
  • Wet Wipes
We use small travel or sample size bottles/packages to reduce the space needed to keep these items.  You may find it necessary to purchase empty travel size bottles for alcohol, peroxide, etc.  We often kept these in spray bottles as we found this was most often the method of application we preferred.

Small plastic boxes can be found in a variety of sizes at $1 stores and these work well for your kit.  Depending on how your rabbitry is set up, you may have room for a cabinet for these things.  I’ve seen small medicine cabinets at Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity resale stores and these  work well for organized storage in your “barn”.
